Try a different set of earbuds. the wires are so thin and flimsy it is usually those and not the iPod itself or see if it plays in a docking station.
Im pretty sure that your ipod touch will work with ihome ih5 as the speakers are made for ipods they work with any type of ipod out there. If on the cover/box of the ihome ih5 says that it will only work with ipod nano ipod video etc. and ipod touch is not on there it only means that the speakers were made before the ipod touch came out and Im 100% sure that it will work with your ipod. I bought speakers for ipod (i also have an ipod touch) and the information on the box didn't include ipod touch as the electronic that the speakers will work with but my ipod works perfectly with the speakers and I have no problems with it.
There are two possible solutions to this problem. The first solution is that the cord that connects into the iPod Touch isn't securely in it, causing the speakers not to distribute any sound. The second possible solution is that the speakers just may have an internal problem, causing the speakers not to work.
Yes! There are underwater speakers for the ipod touch! My friend has them for her nano and when you play it underwater you can hear it all across the pool underwater. And they also work above water! It is the first one on this link: http://www.nextag.com/waterproof-ipod-speakers/shop-html
"NONE of the ipod touch firmare files DONT work....." NONE AND DONT is a double-negative

Any set of good speakers will work great with an Ipod. It's only a source. If your speakers work well with your stereo they'll be great with an Ipod.
Yes, the app textplus was made for the iPod touch. If it is on the Appstore for Apple, IT WILL WORK ON AN IPOD TOUCH.
