well see when they say 4.1 they mean 4.1 only 4.1.2 is its own firmware and is not recognized by the program. jailbreaking a iPod or iphone with the wrong tool can literally destroy your device so i think that the best thing you can do is go to iTunes and restore your ipod or iphone then you should upgrade to 4.2.1 for free and jailbreak it with greenpois0n. greenpois0n is an untethered jailbreak that works only for 4.2.1 so upgrade it first. i would like to point out that you also didn't explain if it was in ipod or iphone and if it was 1g 2g 3g 2gs or 4g this information is critical
