What transmission fluid is equivalent to gm 1052931?

The ZF S6-40 6-speed transmission is lubricated by engine type oil. Manufacturer recommendations specify the use of GM P/N 1052931 (5w-30), so that is what I would use. Holds about 2.2 quarts. You can more than likely use any high quality 5w30 oil but GM recommends their oil so I am not going to tell you any different.

I went to http://pennzoil.com/#/contact-us and found a phone number to speak to a pennzoil representative. I asked them what product they make is equivalent to GM 1052931. She looked at her cross reference guide and responded 5W-30. She then asked me to give her the year make and model and specific item I was working on. I gave her all of that and she told me that 5W-30 is the recommended lubricant for that year make and model of the manual transmission. (FYI 1990 Chevrolet K-1500 pick-up, 5 speed manual transmission light duty RPO MG5)
