Union LTL carrier might, if they employ you as a dock or warehouse worker, and then decide to send you to CDL training. However, if they don't, then nobody else does. A lot of companies offer their own CDL schools, but they don't pay you to attend - they don't charge you for the school if you meet the stipulation that you work for them for a specified period of time (usually one year). Your paid training is after CDL driving school - before you go solo, you'll be paired with a trainer for a period of between one and two months. You'll be paid during this time.

Most commercial trucking companies require you to be hired 'fully trained'. If your CDL is expired because of your time off-road, you must renew it with the Department of Motor Vehicles.
