CO2 (Carbon Dioxide). Carbon dioxide in the gas you put the limewter near reacts with calcium hydroxde to form white particle solids of calcium carbonate which is sparing soluble. you see these particles as a suspension, much like milk
When dilute nitric acid was added to a solution of one of the following chemicals, a gas was evolved. This gas turned a drop of limewater, Ca(OH)2, cloudy, due to the formation of a white precipitate. The chemical was
A) household ammonia, NH3
B) baking soda, NaHCO3
C) table salt, NaCl
D) epsom salts, MgSO4 * 7H20
E) bleach, 5% NaOCl
It might be A or B.
It is C) NaCl i just did this reaction today
Lime water is nothing but a solution of Calcium oxide in water. Calcium oxide reacts exothermically with water to form calcium hydroxide. The solution of Calcium Hydroxide is initially clear. However, due to reaction with atmospheric carbon dioxide, soluble Calcium Hydroxide gets converted to insoluble calcium carbonate. As a result the solution appears cloudy. Similar result is obtained if carbon dioxide is bubbled for a short time through lime water. Dr S P Deshpande, India
The carbon dioxide is added to the lime water which creates small amounts of chalk which turns the water cloudy but as the chalk is insoluble it doesn't dissolve so it settles I think
Carbon dioxide
Calcium Oxide is made.
the lime water will turn cloudy
It turns from a clear, colourless substance to a cloudy, whitish precipitate
Lime water goes cloudy when a reaction takes place with carbon dioxide. Lime water detects the presence of lime water.
The lime water goes cloudy.
Lime water turns milky when carbon dioxide is added to it.Lime water also turns into Calcium carbonate (Limestone) solution

the lime water will turn cloudy

It turns cloudy (or milky). Lime water is calcium hydrogen carbonate dissolved in water. When it comes into contact with carbon dioxide, they react together to make calcium carbonate (chalk), which is white and less soluble in water. So the fine white precipitate that forms makes the solution turn cloudy.
Lime water goes cloudy when a reaction takes place with carbon dioxide. Lime water detects the presence of lime water.
You can test it with the Lime Water test. If there is carbon dioxide in your breath then the Lime Water should turn cloudy.
Because when lime water is used to test for the presence of carbon dioxide, it will turn cloudy if the result is positive.

bubble the gas through lime water. if it is carbon dioxide, it will turn cloudy.
