Umm there are no countries in Japan because japan is a country. But japan was a part of the axis powers which included Italy Germany and japan.
Italy, Vatican City (NOT part of Italy, though surrounded by Rome) & San Marino are the three separate and independent countries on the Apennine Peninsula.
