AnswerNo, but it is the favourite book of the British (and not merely women) and it is widely appreciated by both critics and fans throughout the world. I have read it at east 15 times and every time it is as if I were seeing an old friend whom I have missed. Some of the British screen adaptations (mainly the 1995 one, of course) have largely added to its fame and appeal. Last but not least, it is extremely well-written, whereas the beginning of "Sense and Sensibility" has several flaws (in my opinion). \ AnswerNo. There are many better books. A complete list is as follows:

[I forget the exact titles. I will get back to this as I remember them.]

No, "Pride and Prejudice" is not considered historical fiction. It is a classic novel set in the early 19th century that explores themes of love, class, and social norms in England during that time period. Historical fiction typically involves fictional characters and events set against a backdrop of historical events or time periods.

One opinion: Yes it is, but only for improving your reading skills, not for making a better world for all.

Another opinion:

Pride and Prejudice is usually included in the canon of English Literature. It is historically groundbreaking because of its treatment of the sorts of people the author might deal with on a day to day basis. It is a very good, well crafted piece of literature. It is arguably a book with social importance. And it is quite enjoyable, even two hundred years after it was written.

It is fiction, but romantic, not historical, as it was written (in its first draft) at the end of the 18th century, and revised and published at the beginning of the 19th.
