What kind of cough syrup gets you high that's not over the counter?

Well check the active ingredients mate. And I don't know about brands what your looking for however is dextromethorphan or "dxm" for short. Your looking for something with JUST that on it, any other things can lead to danger.
This however is in the codeine board, if your in America your out of luck for there is no over the counter brands with it in it. If your in Europe however i would not know the brands are there.

∙ 11y agoIf you take an excess amount of cough medicine containing DXM(Dextromethorphan) than yes you will get high and it will have psychedelic effects on you. DXM is found in some over the counter cough medicines.
*Please use medicine responsibly and do not abuse it, that is what leads to it becoming illegal and people with legitimate uses for it can not use it

∙ 13y agoThere is an ingredient called DXM (Dextromethorphan) which some people use to get high. It is found in many over-the-counter cough syrups and cold medicines.
However, I have done DXM myself (pure DXM, in pill form) and the "high" it produces is AWFUL. It makes you feel disoriented, paranoid, confused, and just generally BAD. It is really a terrible choice for a recreational drug.
And the people I did it with didn't seem to be having fun, either. They were freaking out more than I was. Why anyone would ever choose to take this horrible, horrible drug is beyond me.
Furthermore, cough syrups and cold medicines contain other medications -- like acetaminophen -- which can cause serious health problems, like stomach bleeding and liver damage. You have to swallow a LOT of cough syrup in order to feel the effects, so, you will be doing some very serious damage to your body.

∙ 12y agoThere are two types of prescription cough syrups that I can think of.
One contains a higher dose of Codeine (Higher than what you can get over the counter)
The other is called "Hycodan" - a cough syrup containing the semi synthetic opioid narcotic 'Hydrocodone'
The second of these is much stronger, however they both will produce a euphoric effect.

most of d syrups contain dextromethorphan(cough suppressant), cetirizine(antihistaminic to reduce allergy) and guafenecin(works by thinning the cough).... syrup is used so that this combination gets absorbed rapidly and properly in your system.... :-)

These two would be OK to take together. I checked the ingredients lists. SudoGest only contains pseudoephedrine, which is a decongestant. Hycodan contains hydrocodone, which is a narcotic cough suppressant. Therefore, they do not contain the same ingredients.I hope your cold or flu gets better soon!

In a literal sense, no. One is solid while the other is liquid - and liquid gets absorbed into your body faster. However, 5mg is 5mg so I would imagine the dosage would be the same.

Cats can also cough, it is more noticeable when they ingested something foreign or when something gets caught in their respiratory track. Cats also cough when sick though it is not as observable as to other mammals.
