Magnetic energy is the energy stored in a magnetic field in the form magnetic field lines.

Power Transformers used in electricity supply send energy from one coil to another, at a different voltage, via the magnetic field.

Electromagnetic energy can be "defined" as:

EME = hf= zC^2f = zCI=CV= WbI=VWb/z.

Electromagnetic energy is a hybrid word indicating a hybrid theory, electricity and magnetism. The essence of this hybridism is the "world view" of the scientist. Is there a preferred world view? Should we have electric energy or magnetic energy only?

The essence of the world view differences goes back to space and time. Science has a sense of space and a sense of time. Man had an early sense of space and the stars including the sun. Later man developed a sense of time. By the time of Newton space and time were co-equals in science. With the coming of Electromagnetism and Maxwell's Equations, time and space became coupled by the speed of light. Finally Einstein joined them in his concept of a four dimensional universe, spacetime.

The idea of spacetime maintains the hybridism inherent in electromagnetism. I prefer a non-hybrid concept of space, where space is a four dimensional, quaternion concept., Maxwell's Equations and electromagnetism are all about space not time and the Universe is electric. Given an electric field, E= Er + Ev, is a quaternion electric field with Er the real field and Ev the vector field, Maxwell's Equations are given by the first space derivative of the electric field. This is a Boundary condition or Continuity Condition.

0= (d/dr + Del)E= (dEr/dr - Del.Ev) + (dEv/dr + DelxEv + Del Er)

This gives two equations

0 = dEr/dr - Del.Ev

and

0= dEv/dr + Del Er

DelxEv =0 indicates that the other two vectors are parallel or anti-parallel and the vector equation sums to zero.

The radial distance is a real scalar r=ct and dr=cdt introduces time into the equations.

Magnetism is introduced by E=Bc thus dE/dr= dE/cdt= dB/dt. Introducing time introduces the magnetic field. The time variation of the magnetic field is just the distance variation of the electric field.

The relation E=Bc was discovered by Maxwell and Weber. Weber considered it a coincidence. Maxwell considered it evidence that light was electricity! Maxwell's prediction that light was electricity is still one of the greatest scientific achievements.

Quaternions are yet to be appreciated in science and spacetime hybridism continues.

Magnetism is not an energy in itself. Magnets have a force, and if that force is used to move an object over a certain distance, the energy is called work. If energy is used to hold an object attracted or repelled by the magnet from moving, then there is potential energy stored in the held object/magnet system.

Magnetic energy is an energy field that surrounds a magnet. Magnets contain north and south poles which produce lines of force from north pole to south pole.

How can you turn off a magnetic field by a current?

If the magnetic field is caused only by a current, you can turn the current off.If you have another magnetic field, for example due to a permanent magnet, with a current you can create a magnetic field that counters the first one. But that will only work in certain regions in space; you can't cancel such a magnetic field everywhere in space.

Why can an induction heating process heat magnetic material faster than non magnetic material?

To heat something by induction (which is and oscillating magnetic field), the material has to react to the magnetic field. As the magnetic field is made to oscillate, the molecules of the material are pulled and vibrated in sympathy with the field and their vibration energy increases. Heat IS the vibration of molecules. Thus induction heating will work on a magnetic material but will have no effect on a material that is not magnetically susceptible.

What is the neutral point of the magnetic field?

In a combined magnetic field, a neutral point is a place where the magnetic field is zero

Can things hover in a magnetic field?

Things that are affected by a magnetic field, such as iron and steel can hover in a magnetic field.

What is a magnetic field will be produced at some point in space if the electric field at the point?

As far as the electric field is stationary then no magnetic field. But when electric field is moving at a uniform speed then a magnetic field will be produced. This is what we call Lorentz magnetic field.

Is magnetic a type of energy?

It takes some energy to build up a magnetic field; when the magnetic field collapses, the same amount energy is released again. So, it makes sense to consider that somehow, energy is stored in the magnetic field.

What does energy have to do with magnet?

Whenever there is a certain type of force, one that fulfills certain conditions (called a "conservative force") - such as a magnetic field, an electric field, or a gravitational field - there is an associated potential energy.

What happens with the energy associated to the magnetic field of a coil with electric current if the electric current is turned off?

The magnetic field or energy associated with the magnetic field will no longer be generated if the current is turned off.

Why is potentials energy sometimes called stored energy?

Because it is. Gravitational potential energy is energy stored in the gravitational field, electrical potential energy is energy stored in the electric field, magnetic potential energy is stored in the magnetic field, etc.
