Monarchy Britain had and still has a democratically-elected parliament with a constitutionally-limited monarchy. The king or queen is essentially a figurehead with no real power. When Britain went to war in September 1939, Neville Chamberlain was the Prime Minister at the head of an overwhelingly Conservative government (though nominally it was a coalition). On the fall of Chamberlain in May 1940, Winston Churchill formed a genuine coalition with Labour and Liberals - a truly national coalition.

There were different types of government, as can be seen by observing the political sprectrum, during World War 2. Nazi Germany and Italy had a facist type of government, while governments like Russia's (the Soviet Union) were communist. Britain had a monarchy and democracy government. America and Australia were mainly a democracy

The British political parties worked together in a coalition government from 1940 under Winston Churchill. Members of the cabinet included Conservative, Labour and even a Liberal minister. There were no general elections during the period of the war so the parliament elected in 1935 lasted for 10 years.

Churchill lead a coalition government with Conservative and Labour ministers in the cabinet. The leader of the Liberal Party was Minister for Air (as in planes!!). As soon as Germany had been defeated, the coalition broke up and Britain had a general election for the first time in ten years.

Winston churchill was about the only brit who made a commitment to ww 2 and that was on a executive level. The rest of Briton worked in factories and such for the war effort . Many young men joined in the war as soldiers, etc, England also served as an aviation contributer as most planes were able to refuel there and get some r&rSo England did pretty much what the Americans and other allied countries did.
