Microsoft announced in March of 2009 that the Microsoft Encarta program would no longer be supported. The discontinuation included all disc and online versions.
Microsoft has discontinued Encarta. The last version was Encarta 2009. Updates and support ended in January 2012. Any site claiming they have a file or program Microsoft Encarta 2012 likely to be a ploy to fool you into downloading a program you do not want. Many such will be malware or spyware (or worse).

If you are able to install the program, you can still TRY to run Encarta in "Compatibility mode"Right click the program or program shortcut.Go to Properties and then the Compatibility tabCheck off the box that says "Run this program in compatibility mode"Select the version of windows that Encarta was intended for - Windows 95This works for me in Win 7 64 bit.
