Mostly none. It is totally sand though there may be arable soil somewhere below those deserts. An oasis in a desert is a place that has water which has allowed plant growth and self fertilizing of the area by plant decay.
dry sandThe southwestern US has mixed desert mostly characterized by seasonal, but minimal rainfall. Because of the amount of precipitation the soils remain alkali with a layer of caliche that is almost impenetrable. This seems to be formed as the rainfall washes the surface minerals down just so far at which point they harden into a rock like substance.
Because of the soil characteristics when it does rain the water channels through washes and arroyos violently and rarely soaks in. I believe the native Americans call this a 'male' rain. The 'female' rain - a long gentle soaking ifs far better for crops.
All desert flora have modifications that permit adaptation to these circumstances, either fleshy storage areas, minimal surface areas, or extended dormancy or all of the above.dry sandThe southwestern US has mixed desert mostly characterized by seasonal, but minimal rainfall. Sandy, coarse sand with little organic matter but with high amounts of rocks and minerals. It is light colored which represents poor drainage and little rainfall.
sorry you didn't put a full question so how are we suppost to know what you are asking?
the soil is so hard there is realy no soaking
Most desert soils are dry and sandy with little organic material.
Organic loam.
dry
Thin Humus layer, minerals deep beneath the surface
More organic matter in the humus layerthan in deeper layers.
Soil is transported by erosion from flowing water, glaciers and wind (mainly in deserts).
Wet and rich in organic matter.
Organic loam.
Yes. Because the sandy soil is from the biggest sandy ocean that float in the sea ♥
Actually they lack soil horizons.
I found a web page that describes how to choose potting soil that could describe it better than I ever could. Here it is: http://homeideas.howstuffworks.com/soil-and-fertilizer/how-to-choose-potting-soils.htm
Spodosol is a sandy soil found in northern coniferous forests. Airdisols, found in deserts, have high concentrations of salts.
Sand, soil, gravel, rock and water are some abiotic factors found in deserts.
moist and rich with organic matter.
