There is no definitive list of what an interviewer will ask you.

This is why preparation is important.

You should know the basic history of the company and the specialised knowledge concerning the position you have applied for.

Other questions will possibly be asked to find out what kind of personality you have and the approach you will take to challenges.

do you know how to stock different items? produce, meats, canned items. are you familiar with the different sections of a supermarket? like produce, deli, dairy, etc. do you understand what a bar code means? some barcodes have the type of item is, what dept, etc. evey sales items has a barcode that is programed into a computer and the computer keeps track of the amount, the time, the description,the color, etc. every isle has a number so you can tell a customer where an item can be found, can you memorize the numbers and what each isle has. you don't have to remember every single item, just the main things. for example- know where the produce is, usually at the very front corner of the building when you first walk in and meats in the back corner on the right side when you walk in. some markets have the bread in the front middle or the right side middle area. canned items are usually in the middle lanes of the building. those are the ones with the numbers. you have lanes for the sweets like cake batter, sugar, flour, candies, most stuff used for home baking, starch, nuts, etc. you have a lane for dried beans, noodles, mostly things you have to add water too, mashed potatoes, hamburger helper, etc. keep up to date on sales papers, keep near your register. can you handle pressure at a register when ringing up purchases? do you know what a rain check is? do you know how to check id for alcoholic beverage? you have to calculate age when looking ad id do you know hot to calculate taxes? you should have a tax chart to look at just in cas someone ask you for a amount on something so you can give them the correct amount. found out as much about the company just in case you are asked, what do you know about this company? they want to know if you done your home work

You can expect these questions to be highly job-specific. You're passed the general human resources screeners. You'll probably be interviewing with members of the team you would be working with. Make sure you are very familiar with the company and the industry.

Pretty much the same questions as in the first interview to make sure the answers remain the same. Ask for references then do a background check if you think the candidate is suitable and has the availability you are looking for.

In a job interview sometimes there are three steps. This depends on the person who does the job interviews. Sometimes step 3 isn't necessary but if a job interview doesn't go to step 3 it's because the person doing the interviewing has seen enough of you that he or she will know whether they want you to work for them or not.

In the Second interview stage you might be asked to perform a skill test especially if the job in question needs someone with a high IQ. Sometimes the job interviewer didn't get all the answers that he or she was looking for and sometimes they want to see if you have a pattern such as being early or late for your interviews. They might want to see if you dress differently. The first interview done, you might be feeling confident and not dress accordingly and perhaps this kind of job requires you to dress a certain way.

I once filled out a 35 page application form, did three interviews and was called to do a fourth but at that stage I was fed up with tons of questions and declined the job. One just never knows what is going on in someone's head when if they have enough experience they should know in the first interview if they want you or not.

TThe first thing to do is find out who will be carrying out the second interview. If someone from the first interview is there you are unlikely to have to go through the same questions again.

Normally it is the line manager for the job or his/her boss that goes to 2nd interviews. Line managers tend to be interested in your experience and its relavance to the job. Plus they are liable to ask you about things like

  • are you a good team player?
  • how you deal with difficult customers
  • what your interpersonal skills are like
  • how motivated you are
  • how much energy and drive you have

So have answers ready! Second interview means you are close so make sure you are welll prepared

Questions like take me through an average day, what are the major deadlines for the position, and what goals does the team have all indicate active interest on your end. It is important to take notes on the answers you are given.

You may want to close the interview by requesting a business card or contact information. A thank you email in the next day or two is an excellent way to follow up and will help the recruiter or hiring manager remember you.
