William McKinley (born January 29, 1843 in Niles, Ohio; died September 14, 1901 in Buffalo, New York) became the 25th President of the United States between March 4, 1897 and his death - assassinated by Leon Czolgosz - the last veteran of the American Civil War to be voted into office.
