The only dog that ever featured in the Beetle Bailey comic strip- the service comedy drawn by Mort Walker, was Muttsy. This was the pet of Sergeant Snorkel, not the title character. There was no Bulldog in the strip, You may be confused with Sad Sack of the Marines" Bulldog Mascot, Jiggs. No Bulldogs in Beetle Bailey, My Dad was a bulldog fan and he would have noticed it right away. The previous answerer must have forgot about Sgt. Snorkel's anthropomorphic dog, whom Sarge dresses up the same as himself; the name of said dog being Otto. See the related links on bottom of page for information on the anthropomorphic Otto character. I have seen this comic strip for many years. there was no Bulldog in the script. Sergeant Snorkel had a nondescript dog- not a bulldog, called Muttsie, as I recall. There may have been a bulldog in the unrelated service-comedy strip Sad Sack, but not in Beetle Bailey! The current Sandy in (Annie) appears to be a Boxer. -While on the subject of dogs in comic strips. ARF!
