Burkina Faso used to be called Haute Volta in French or Upper Volta in English. That was before the young revolutionary socialist Thomas Sankara became president in the early 80's and renamed the country Burkina Faso (The Land of Upright Men). There are three major ethnic groups in the country: Mossi (majority), Mandingo (2nd), and Fula (3rd).The name is meant to capture the ethic diversity of the country As follows. Burkina means Upright Men. Faso means fatherland in Mangingo. To honor the Fulas, the citizens of Burkina Faso are called Burkinabe which means citizen of Burkina in Fula.

Bingo is played all over the world, but the game's history can be traced back to 1530, to an Italian lottery called "Lo Giuoco del Lotto D'Italia," which is still played every Saturday in Italy.
