What was Jesus cause of death?

The Bible tells us Jesus was crucified. Crucifixion is a slow and agonising process in which the victim gradually loses strength to take his weight on his feet, so that he must hang from his arms, which prevents him from breathing. At his stage, death from asphyxiation usually results quickly.

Jesus died by giving up His life, for he said, "No one takes my life from me, but I lay it down willingly. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father." (John 10:18) So Jesus laid down His life for us, He did not die by suffocation because he cried out in a loud voice, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" And then Jesus cried out once more and gave up His spirit. (Matthew 27:45 and 50).

Here's an interesting fact: At the same time Christ was being crucified, down the road Jews were celebrating Palm Sunday at Jerusalem. Jesus gave up His life at the same exact time when the lamb in the Temple at Jerusalem was slain. Jesus said the exact words that the priest said when the priest slit the lambs throat, "It is finished". This all happened at the exact same time, exact same day.
