Plotinus (205-269) was the founder of Neoplatonism. He studied at the Academy, the school founded by Plato (427-347 BCE) and operated until Justinian closed it in 529 CE.
While the Neoplatonism that Plotinus taught was really a philosophy rather than a religion, there was a great deal of overlap between the two concepts.
Plotinus taught of the great chain of being. Under his guidance, Neoplatonists learnt that a primal unity was the origin of all beings. This was the One, an unknowable source of all goodness, beauty, existence and life. From the superabundance of its goodness and goodwill, the One overflowed and descended to establish the next spiritual level of existence, the Nous, which means intelligence and intuitive knowledge. The Nous, imitating and following the way established by the One, also overflowed from the abundance of its intellect to create the next lower spiritual level of the universe, the Soul. The Soul was the cosmic mind of the universe. It constituted the ideal form of all created things. Just as the One and the Nous had, the Soul also overflowed with its own goodness and rationality and the created universe emerged.
No.
It didn't. There has always been religion.
No at least in most schools you are required to take theology.AnswerI believe the only way to drop religion if you are attending Catholic School, is to drop out and attend public school. Of course there you have to take a much worse religion, it just isn't called religion. Take the religion class, it will give you a different perspective with which to see the world.
Believers.
religion is not boring if you take an active interest in seeking God.
In order to take a religion course you would have to go to school. Some houses of worship also offer courses on religion. The internet also has schools that offer online courses.
Yes. I have to in my school.
because of religion
Environment is your surroundings and religion represents the spiritual side of your life. Depending on how serious you take religion your environment is going to be. :O)
Muslim they are the only religion and they take over the whole country :D xx
Fear. Greed. Habit. I take it you meant: "What systems keep religion in place?"
You can go to any college and take religion courses. If you are looking for a specific religion check with your religious leader in your community and he will point you in the right direction.
