Portugal had many motives for colonizing Brazil. They mainly wanted to expand their empire beyond Europe and Africa. They also wanted to take advantage of the rich Natural Resources of the area for profit.

They Colonized Angola because of its gold and also because it was near the coast which gave them an easy access to trading. Later on they realised that it was cheap to get slaves there too.
