What was Saint Patrick's Celtic name? In: Catholicism |
[Edit] |
saint patricks name in celtic
i just found out it was Succat in celtic. =)
Don't you mean Irish Gaelic? There is currently no language called Celtic and the last time there was one was in 1000 BC, long before St. Patrick who, by the way, was not Irish. He was Welsh. His name was Maewym Succat. He was baptized Patrick which in Irish Gaelic would be rendered Padraig. Most saints who Christianized a particular country are not the nationality for which we remember them. St. Anthony of Padua was Portuguese. Sw. Wojciech (Adalbert) of Poland was an Englishman, etc.
