Allgates was an experimental 11th and 12th grade prep school off shoot of the Haverford Pennsylvania public school system. It was held in a mansion called 'Allgates', hence the name, which had come under ownership of the township. Allgates was located about 2 miles from the traditional High School. It was intended to jump start college bound juniors and seniors into the practice of independent study and research paper development practices which they were likely to find in college. Eligable students had to apply and be accepted to attend. Students arrived at the main high school along with other students and would then be bussed to Allgates sometime after homeroom for the remainder of the day. It ran from roughly 1974 to 1981???
