It was like Heaven on earth, no pain, suffering or death. Adam named all the animals of the earth, everything that crawled, swam, or flew. All was under his dominion. All he and Eve had to do was obey their Father, Yahweh, who commanded them not to eat of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. That is because there is no good or evil in heaven, or in any condition that has no pain, suffering, or death, e.g., it is not the human condition.

The serpent tempted Adam and Eve by saying that if God made them after his image, he had this knowledge so they should have it. They did not confess their misdeed to their father, but he noticed that they were suddenly ashamed of their sexuality, and so had gained morality from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Their punishment was banishment from this idyllic state to what we still have as our human condition -- woman shall have pain in childbirth, man shall work and bruise his heel, and we have pain, suffering and death. This is called original sin and is the reason why all Christians believe all people are born sinful.

AnswerIf you wish to know what was in the Garden of Eden you can find out by reading Genesis 2:8-Genesis 3:24 or ask again more specifically.

The Garden of Eden was the garden where God made all animals and first put Adam and Eve, and where they ate from the forbidden tree, and therefore were kicked out of the garden. The garden was then guarded by two angels with swords of flame to prevent anyone entering it.

Very simple ... Adam had a choice , to overcome his nature or follow his "good and bad" judgment (beign like god... knowing good and bad) . By following his "judgment" he overthroned God by putting his mind in "charge" thus leading to what we see today , we all live by good and bad "in our eyes" which is far from beign the truth good or bad so everything is relative and not constant. The "choice" that was given to him had to be there otherwise there was no point in the creation because he had to earn it himself and not just granted . Why not "granted" if god can do everything simply perfect from the begining??? Because perfect "GOOD" as god does , comes by earning it . Without the "earning" part this "GOOD" is not perfect , it is charity , and that is not the point of the creation...

Answer #2This was the seminal test of man, a creature who among mortals uniquely is given God consciousness (worship in an activity peculiar to man), and the privilege and responsibility of voluntary obedience to His creation. Love is manifested as true in testing. And while God could have made perfect robots, instead He made a perfect man with a freedom of choice by which he could choose to perpetuate his original state or corrupt himself.

The devil, who lost his exalted position given him by almighty God when he selfishly decided he would place himself in God's position (Is. 14:12-14ff), came to Eve in the Garden (Gn. 3) and insinuated that God was malevolently holding back from her something that would make her like Him, and thus enticed her to take it by force. It can be said that what the devil was fostering was a "victim and entitlement mentality," even as he does today. Eve, yielding to deception, was enticed to disobedience, and beholding that "the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise [the 3 basic lusts of mankind: 1Jn. 2:14-16], she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat" (Gn. 3:6). Adam, for his part, was not deceived, but fully knew what he was doing, and had the greater responsibility and incurred the greater guilt (cf. Rm. 5:14).

However, as all of God's laws are holy, just and good (cf. Rm. 7:14), so the solitary command given to Adam and Eve served to keep them from sin and it's resultant consequences. One of which is a cursed creation, with physical decay and death being realized, as well as a nature with an innate proclivity to sin, for as Adam was given charge of the earth, when he sinned it evil-affected all under his domain. This teaches us that what we do, whether evil or good, affects not just ourselves but others as well.

Prior the "fall," Adam and Eve, like infants, were innocent (thus had no consciousness of their nakedness), but it may be said they did not possess the quality of "righteousness," of a soul who was fully tempted to sin but did not. Or fully believes in Him who is sinless, and this overall obeys Him.

And as justice requires a reconciling atonement in order for forgiveness and cleansing, so God would instititute the sacrificial system, under which a yearly atonement would be offered once a year though the death of innocent animals, the precursor to which is indicated in God making coats for Adam and Eve of the skin of animals, which up to that time were not killed (all were apparently vegetarians).

(Lev 16:34) "And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make an atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins once a year. And he did as the LORD commanded Moses."

(Lev 17:11) "For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul."

Enter the second Adam, "Jesus Christ the righteous" (1Jn. 1:21). In contrast to Adam and Eve, Jesus was "in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin". In addition to other times, in Mt. 4:1-11 we see Jesus being tempted in the same 3 ways Eve was but responding according to God's word, not yielding tothe devil's deceptions. And being made perfect [complete and victorious in necessary experiences], he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him" (Heb. 4:15; 5:9).

(Rom 5:12-19) "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: {13} (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. {14} Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come. {15} But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. {16} And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification. {17} For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) {18} Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. {19} For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

No mention in Quran, Muslims holy book, on what Adam and Eve were commanded not to eat. Actually, as mentioned in Quran, they were commanded not to approach a tree in the Garden of Eden.

Quran says (English meaning translation): "O Adam! dwell you and your wife in the Garden, and enjoy (its good things) as you wish: but don't approach this tree, or you run into harm and transgression." Then began Satan to whisper suggestions to them, bringing openly before their minds all their shame that was hidden from them (before): he said: "Your Lord only forbade you this tree, for not becoming angels or being alive for ever." And he swore to them both, that he was their sincere adviser. So by deceit he brought about their fall: when they tasted of the tree, their shame became manifest to them, and they began to sew together the leaves of the garden over their bodies. And their Lord called them: "Did I not forbid you that tree, and tell you that Satan was an avowed enemy to you?" They said: "Our Lord! We have wronged our own souls: If you (Allah) don't forgive us and don't bestow upon us your Mercy, we shall certainly be lost." (Allah) said: "Get both down with enmity between yourselves (mankind). On earth will be your dwelling-place and your means of livelihood,- for a time." He said: "Therein shall you live, and therein shall you die; but from it shall you be taken out (at last)."[Quran, chapter7 (Surat Al-A'raf), verse 19 to 25]

Answer B:It was the "tree of the knowledge of good and evil". It is not a tree that is present in the world today, just like the "tree of life" is no longer present in the world today. Tree Of Knowledge Of Good And EvilGenesis 2:9 (KJV) And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Genesis 2:17 (KJV) But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Tree Of LifeGenesis 3:22 (KJV) And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

Genesis 3:24 (KJV) So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

Revelation 2:7 (KJV) He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

Revelation 22:2 (KJV) In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, andyielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

Revelation 22:14 (KJV) Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

Answer C

There is no definite answer as to what the "fruit" is for sure. It has been said by some early rabbis that it was

  • the fig, because the next verse mentions sewing together fig leaves to make loincloths;
  • grapes, which later cause trouble for Noah, not to mention many other vino lovers;
  • the citron, a lemonlike fruit which in Hebrew is etrog, a pun on ragag, "desire";
  • wheat, khitah in Hebrew and thus a pun on khet, "sin" - a stretch, considering wheat isn't a fruit and doesn't grow on trees; or
  • the carob, because in Hebrew its name puns on the word for "destruction."
Answer DGod allowed Adam and Eve to feed off of all of Eden's trees except one. God told the couple that they'd die if they ate of the fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. There also were animals and birds in the Garden. Adam and Eve may have fed off of them and other wildlife. But there's no specific mention of their being encouraged to do so or of so doing.

Since there was no rain in the pre-Flood Garden, just a mist-canopy, the temperature was perfect, and every kind of tree and plant grew there.
