In japan: women had long knife and practise fighting against whites. In the battle for okinawa 80 000 women fought with sticks 3000 children fought and 12 over 100 years old men. Any 2 in 3 people ate only bowl of rice per day.

clothes were not that available as money had to be spent on other things such as weapons etc.

economy was poor

many houses were bombed from air raids so many were left homeless

children evacuated to country towns to be kept safe

people were forced in britain to put up blackouts to stop the germans from seeing the light as targets
