What was life like in the 1960's? |
Petrol was cheaper. A room only needed a couple of power points. There wasn't an electrical gadget to do everything. When something broke it was repaired, not thrown away. When you got sick it took longer to get over it, because medicine wasn't as advanced. No internet so, the news papers had complete control over what you were told. Drugs were only just starting to become part of the scene so you could leave your door unlocked with very little risk of being ripped off. Mothers looked after their kids, instead of being forced to neglect them, to feed an ever expanding economy. People didn't walk along the streets swearing and drunk, as in those days, you would get a punch in the mouth for that sort of behavior. In the developed countries, the sight of seeing children sleeping on the streets was basically unheard of. People were more idealistic. Even if most of this was the result of being blissfully unaware about what was really going on in the world around them, I must admit though, there was alot about the 1960's that was enjoyable.
