I'm not an Irish history scholar, but I highly recommend Kevin Baker's novel "Paradise Alley" for a graphic depiction of life in Ireland during the potato famine of the 1840s. (just wanted to get this answer credited to my account)

If you are asking about Columbus Day, he did not celebrate it. He could not. It did not become a holiday until hundreds of years after he died. In the late 1400s, Columbus would have only celebrated the holidays that existed-- those were generally church holidays, like Christmas, Easter, and holy days honoring Catholic saints.

It depends what you term Spanish. Languages evolve by slow changes that go from dialect to dialect. Modern Castilian (the version of Spanish that we are familiar with) only exists in the exact form that we are familiar with today for 200 years or so. Prior to that, the language was more or less the same, but some words were spelled differently (yerba vs. hierba) and some of the grammar was different. This goes back to the late 1400s. From the mid-1300s to the late 1400s, the Castilian was more different and such documents like Don Quixote attest to unique words that no longer exist and grammatical structures that differ from today's. Prior to this you have versions of the language which are increasingly closer to Hispanic Latin. The people who spoke Castilian in the late 1400s were the peoples of Iberia, specifically those of Castilla, which is the central region of Spain (as opposed to eastern Spain or western Spain and Portugal).
Like any country in the world, there are people who like Ireland and there are people who don't. In general though, Ireland is a country that most people like.

Justin Bieber is not homosexual! And for all you haters out there, well go get a life! He might like you but only if you have all the things he likes in a girl. If you are the one he falls in love with, then it doesn't matter if you are from Ireland, Jamaica or even from Egypt!
