Monkees was one of less than a handful of Tcv series programs which could be called , with some license, Musical Comedies. ( The only others were The partridge Family, and stretching things, sha Na Na) also the music was mostly faked and writtem by other writers such as Neil Diamond and the team of Boyce and hart (this was revealed on the record labels under songwriters) also off-Ox, the show was one of the very few civilian situation comedies not about in any way, a Family!
