Patrick Henry was born in Hanover County, Virginia. He attended school for only a short period of time, but was taught by his father, who had a good education. As a young man, Henry was a storekeeper for a time. But he was a poor businessman and, as a result, he was soon hopelessly in debt. He then studied law and received his license to practice in 1760. From there, he went on to become one of the important figures in the History of Independence for the United States of America.

He inspired the Colonists of America to put an end to King George III, and become a new nation with his statement, "Give me liberty, or give me death!"
