The 'Fat Man' was the plutonium-fueled implosion-design atomic bomb dropped on Nagasaki, Japan on August 9, 1945 by the United States. It was dropped by the B-29 named "Bockscar", and had a yield of approximately 21kT. Immediate and near-term deaths totalled approximately 50,000, with about the same number injured.
