The UK was implaccable in its desire & design of the defeat of Germany, Italy & Japan in WW2. In June 1940 the British rescued many soldiers from the beaches at Dunkirk. By the end of that year the Italians had been defeated in East Africa & were being attacked in Libya. Through out 1941 the British were active in North Africa trying to hold off Rommel. They tried & failed to intervene in Greece & were thrown out of Crete, there were few successes for the British. The intervention of the US post Pearl Harbor is crucial for the British, the policy of 'Beat Germany first' is vital. Russia is now an ally due to the German invasion. Gradually the Allies are able to mount aerial attacks on Germany which begin to make a difference to morale. In the Far East Britan tries in vain to stem the Japanese advances. At sea the British merchant navy is still being attacked by the U boats in the War of the Atlantic. And so, steadily the UK became stronger & stronger from the dark days of 1940. Firstly Italy capitulated, then Germany & Japan were defeated. Britains role in all this is unsurpassed in any nations fight against Tyrrany. It was a long hard struggle and the British had paid a high price, but then what was the alternative ?
