What was the average cost of a family vacation in 2007?In: Family Travel

The average cost would be completely dependent on whether the family is camping, staying in a hotel, or with relatives. There are some parts of the country where the costs would be as much as half as they would be elsewhere. For instance, travel and leisure activities in Colorado, New Mexico, or Nebraska would be at the lower end, and in California, New York or Florida would be in the top of the price range.
The best estimator I have seen in AAA Magazine (Via) is to plan on $100 per day per person. Money Magazine stated that the average American family spends around $1600 a year on vacations.
