Actually there were two capitols of ancient Assyria . Nineveh was the first and Assur (Ashur) was the second
- Nineveh was the original capitol before Assyria was siezed by the Kings of Assur (Ashur).
- The city of Assur (Ashur)then became the Assyrian capitol.
- Nineveh is considered as a greater and more important city in terms of classical history.
