The Cartae Baronum was a survery conducted by King Henry II of England in 1166. It required of all vassals to the king to submit (1) how many knights they had made vassal at the time of Henry I's death in 1135, (2) how many knights they had made vassal inthe time between 1135 and 1166, and (3) to what degree, if any, the vassals fell short of the royal quota for military service. The collection of responses is known as the Cartae Baronum.
