[Edit] |
Answer
In 1963 a man was accused of breaking and entering in Florida. While in court, his request for a counsel was denied. He tried to represent himself, but failed. He was found guilty and sentenced to 5 years in the state prision. This violated the sixth amendment that states: in all criminal prosecutions, the accused will enjoy the right to have assisstance of counsel for their defense. The Supreme Court overturned his conviction.
