Recognizable, (pictorial) art has been found on the walls of ancient caves, most likely these are some of the first works of "art" done by mankind.

Examples of patterns and designs (geometrical and natural) can be found on clothing and house wears and personal belongings from pre-history. These also would be considered "art".
