Well the first American carrier was AT&Twhich payed extra to be the only carrier to sell the iPhone until March 2011 when Verizon broke the contract and a CDMA version was made, doubling sales. Sprint began selling iPhones on the launch of the 4S in 2011, and T-Mobile finnally began selling iPhones February 2013.
In the continental US AT&T has sole exclusivity as the carrier for iPhone through 2011.
