Interestingly, it wasn't a dinosaur. It was a sort of crocodile, called Phobosuchus. Around 15 meters (50 feet) long, its jaws were three times as big as those of Tyrannosaurus. The giant sea-lizard Liopleurodon might have given it a run for its money, but Liopleurodon fossils are incomplete and there's some dispute about its true size.

∙ 11y agoNo prehistoric carnivore specimen, except the Shastasaurus Sikkanniensis,, has matched the Sperm Whale (up to 20.5m [67 feet] in length and 57,000kg (125,663lbs) in weight) in terms of size. Sperm Whales live on Giant Squid, and so can be considered carnivorous. The Shastasaurus grew up to 21m [69 feet], but they only wieghed 36,287kg (80,000lbs).
