What was the last declared war of the us?

Answer:

WW2 was the last declared war fought by the United States.

Declared wars traditionally have to be fought as total wars...otherwise there is no valid reason for declaring war in the first place.

Therefore, Declared wars can no longer be fought, since total wars can no longer be fought; due to NUCLEAR WEAPONS. Nuclear weapons can only bring "Mutually Assured Destruction" to both combatants.

Consequently the new term of LIMITED WARS were fought against communist aggression in the Korean War & Vietnam Wars. Limited to "Conventional Weapons Only."
