During the industrial revolution the most important or greatest invention (I'm talking about the 18th century, though) was factories. And the steam engine for being able to drive the looms and mills.

They provided a lot of opportunity for poorer people by providing jobs.

It helped people gain more money, also.

Factories had their cons though, too. Factories had very poor working conditions and having as young as 6 year olds working in them and things like that.

ANSWER

i can say that the answer may be steam engine or the telephone

ANSWER

I don't think that there is much doubt about it being the invention and improvments of steam engines. The steam engines made possible powered machines to replace slow hand-crafted parts and products manufacturing, revolutionized both shipping of goods and passenger travel by making possible railroads and steam-powered ships. Traditionally the Industrial Revolution includes the 18th and 19th centuries.

The 19th century perfection of steam engines made possible the 20th century miracle of electrical generation and distribution, which is arguably the most important technological advance that mankind has made so far.

The steam engine.

The drawback of the water frame was that it required a water source close to the factory. This problem was overcome by the steam engine that was invented by James Watson. Though, mainly known for its use in running a train, the power of steam was also used to run machinery in factories and mines.
