No new name was given in 1922. In July 1918, the now ruling Bolsheviks/ Communists adopted the name "Russian Soviet Federated Socialist Republic" as a new name for Russia. Afterwards, in 1924, the RSFSR entered into the Soviet Union Treaty with Ukraine, Belorussia and the Transcaucasian Federation (Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia) and formed the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, the USSR.

No new name was given to Russia in 1922. In 1918, Russia's name was changed to the Russian Socialist Federated Soviet Republic. Then in 1922 the RSFSR joined with Ukraine, Belorussia and the Transcaucasian Federation and named this new union of countries the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. Thus the name of the republic of Russia, did not change. It was simply one of the united republics.

In 1937, the RSFSR changed its name to the Russian Soviet Federated Socialist Republic. They alternated the order of the words "soviet" and "socialist" in the name.
