The first cookies were baked in the homes of Girl Scouts and it was a sugar cookie.

When Girl Scout councils started selling commercially baked cookies, the cookies were baked in the shape of a trefoil.

By 1951, there were three kinds: Sandwich, Shortbread, and Chocolate Mints (now known as Thin Mints).
