What was the purpose of the Forbidden City?

The Forbidden City was the Chinese imperial palace from the mid-Ming Dynasty to the end of the Qing Dynasty. It is located in the middle of Beijing, China. For almost five centuries it served as the home of the Emperor and his household, and the ceremonial and political center of Chinese government.

The purpose of the Forbidden City was for the emperors in the Qing and Ming Dynasty. Ten from the Ming Dynasty and 4 from the Qin Dynasty. Also the one emperor at the time thought that he was chosen by the God of Heaven. He said it was a replica of the Purple Palace where the God of Heaven lived. That is why it was built and it is located in the center of Beijing and at the time it was surrounded by a 32 feet wall and a moat to keep the emperor's safe. Plus it was called the Forbidden City because ordinary people such as farmers were forbidden.

When the Mao revolution happened the emperor was removed from the Forbidden City and taken to a work reeducation camp. The whole story is told in the movie and it is a beautiful movie with its cinematography.
