The Theme of the Sniper:
Wars reduces human beings to mere objects. They have no names,no faces. They are targets, nothing more,to be shot at from a distance. To support this theme the author refrains to any of his characters.War knows no boundaries, age, gender, location, time of the day, family ties. The story opens the eyes to futility of hatered and voilence which made a brother kill a brother.Voilence is no means to an end.
In the climax...the sniper ends up killing his enemy who was on his opposite roof. He gets curious to see who his enemy was and if the enemy belonged to his command. He goes down to identify the enemy and figures out it was his OWN BROTHER.
this story actually ends in a very surprising manner...which makes it really interesting.
thats all i could say
thanks...hope this helped
well, i think it would be when he killed his mom
There was no mom in the story. The only lady in the story was the old lady, but the author didn't mention the old lady was his mom.
The internal conflict would be how the Republican sniper is dealing with the aspects of war. For example when he first shoots his enemy he is glad, however later on he feels remorse, and you see the effects of war. This short story deals more with external conflict. The sniper is pitted against another sniper. This conflict is resolved when the Republican sniper kills the other sniper. HE later finds out that it was his brother.
The resolution of the sniper is also the climax because the sniper ends up out of trouble for the time being and finds out that the enemy sniper is in fact his brother

An example of personification in the short story "The Sniper" is when the sniper's hands are described as "numbed with the cold." This personification gives human qualities to the hands by suggesting that they can feel cold like a person.
