On September 11, 1914, it landed at Herbertshoehe (now Kokopo), German New Guinea (now Papua New Guinea). On September 12, 1914, it landed at Rabaul (formerly Simpsonhafen), Papua New Guinea). On September 24, 1914, it landed near Madang, New Guinea, Indonesia. The rest of the war it spent transporting troops to the Middle East before being hit by a torpedo in the English Channel.
