800 A.D. or so to 1350 A.D.

I would use 5th century to 15th century. Perhaps the most commonly used dates are 476 to 1453, but these dates are rather too precise. Many other dates are used for both the beginning and the end of the Middle Ages.

There are people who use the term Middle Ages to indicate a time after what they call the Dark Ages. According to this scheme, the Dark Ages are from 476 or so to 1000 or 1066; then the Middle Ages are from 1000 or 1066 to 1485. This seems not to be common outside the UK, and I don't know how common it is there.
