Thomas Hobbes believed that life in the state of nature of nasty, short, and brutish. Each person had a natural liberty to do whatever he pleased in order to secure his own life and liberty. In this world, every person had to provide for his own self defence and he was is wronged he is the judge, jury, and executioner. It was up to him to take justice into his own hands.
