He was famous because he believed products must be handmade and to a high standard of quality. he also began the Arts and Crafts movement as well as being a part of the pre-Raphaelites. he refused to make products out of modern machinery as to mass produce.

He was also a poet, a painter and an artist. he was famous for his wall printed wallpaper that had many aesthetically pleasing features such as symmetrical patters and he took inspiration from churches, cathedrals and he was mostly inspired by nature.

Due to his precision and craftsmanship etc.. he is influenced by many designers and his block printed wallpaper is still being sold today.

William Morris 24 March 1834 - 3 October 1896 was an English textile designer, artist, writer, and socialist associated with the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood and the English Arts and Crafts Movement. He founded a design firm in partnership with the artist Edward Burne-Jones, and the poet and artist Dante Gabriel Rossetti which profoundly influenced the decoration of churches and houses into the early 20th century.
