the Christmas castus only blooms at Christmas time. the rest of the year it will be greenery but around next october-November keep in warm and humid. try putttin a plastic bag over the plant with a small hole at the top so it doesnt go moldy. keep soil moist but don't over water. make sure it gets some sunlight to promote blooming. when you see the first blooms remove bag and it should stay till Christmas.

When I look at the conditions needed for certain cacti to flower, I think the same conditions can be obtain in a control environment; such as with a (homemade) grow box. For example, Christmas cactus flower around thancksgiving and Christmas because of the cooler temperatures and shorter days. A timer can achieve lets say13hours of night and 11 hrs day.
