He was appointed on 30 January 1933. Early actions included a complete ban on all anti-government demonstrations. The last such demostration took place on 8 February 1933 and the police, acting on orders, fired into the crowd without warning. In mid February 1933 he had some of his leading opponents imprisoned without trial and even without charge, claiming that they might or were likely to commit 'crimes against the state'. He called a general election for 5 March 1933. On 27 February 1933, during the election campaign, the Reichstag was burnt down by arsonists. Hitler blamed the Communists and created panic and hysteria. He claimed that the Communists were about to seize power ... There was a massive extension of government by decree. (At this stage, the decrees needed President Hindenburg's signature). The Communist Party was banned. Stormtroopers were unleashed on the public and people were savagely beaten up in the streets. The newly elected Reichstag passed the Enabling Act on 23 March 1933 which allowed Hitler to govern by decree without even the President's signature. The first concentration camp had been set up at Dachau the previous day ... A little later concentration camps sprang up all over Germany. On 1 April 1933 Jewish shops and other businesses and Jewish lawyers and doctors were boycotted, with stormstroopers standing outside. A few days later, Jews working in the public sector (including school teachers) were dismissed; by the end of April 1933, Jews were also forbidden to appear on stage or work in theatres; most Jewish students were thrown out of university. Early in May 1933, all political parties other than the Nazi party (NSDAP) were banned ... These are just some of the main measures.

When Adolf Hitler took control of Germany, the first thing he began was to consolidate his power by suppressing political dissent and eliminating opposition. He implemented authoritarian measures such as censorship, Propaganda, and persecution of minority groups, particularly Jews. This led to the establishment of a one-party Dictatorship under the Nazi regime.

Did Germany declare war over the formation of the league of nations?

No. Germany did not declare war. After world war one, Germany's fascist leader Adolf Hitler slowly began to violate the Versailles treaty Germany had signed when they were defeated. The league of nations failed to properly deal with these issues and Germany eventually began to build a powerful military. Hitler first began his campaign by acquiring German speaking territories, but the league of nations kept silent until Germany invaded Poland on September 1 1939. Britain and France declared war on Germany on September 3 1939.
