Contrary to belief, aqueducts are not a Roman invention (they were in use long before the Romans came along). But they did improve the technology with their superior construction skills using stone and Roman concrete (which is a Roman invention, but one that we no longer use today).

∙ 12y agoThe aqueducts were used mainly to bring fresh clean water to where it was needed. This need could be either in cities and towns or for agriculture purposes. In the city of Rome itself, the eleven aqueducts were used for the forementioned purposes and also for the public baths, private homes, public fountains and for the flooding of the Colosseum when naval battles were staged.
