What were dinosaurs called before the word dinosaur was created?

They were called dragons or beasts.

Actually the word dinosaur means terrible lizard.

  • dino-terrible
  • saur-lizard.

So that leads to the conclusion that we stll have dinosaurs today. (for example: Komoto Dragon)
